This measuring device is hand-held and ready to operate within a few seconds of turning it on. It is quick and reliable in capturing CO concentration that ranges from 0 up to 1,000 ppm. The values will be accurately determined up to an accuracy of plus or minus 10ppm. The reading is displayed clearly on its large back-lit display window. If needed 10 measured values can be directly stored within the BG20.

Thanks to its integrated alarm function, it is simple and convenient to quickly check out critical values. In the event of discovering values over 35 ppm, this measuring device will automatically alert you using an audible beep. This signal’s interval shortens as the values increase. After 200ppm is reached, the signal is emitted as one long constant warning signal.

Because of its automatic switch-off due to 15 minutes of inactivity, flat batteries are no longer needed. The function keys are clearly structured allowing for convenient single-handed operation.

Some important facts about carbon monoxide

CO (carbon monoxide) is odorless, tasteless, and invisible. It is a gas that forms during the process of the combustion of fossil fuels. When there is not sufficient supply of oxygen, the CO concentration in the ambient air will rise especially fast. At those times even small amounts could cause damage to people’s health.

For example, with a CO share of just 1.28% within a room, death by suffocation can occur within 1 or 2 minutes. That’s why in Germany the law requires severe limit values for the CO exposure of its employees. 30ppm is the standard permitted limit value in the ambient air.

Still, the amount of air pollution found in workshops, craft enterprises, or production facilities, may be improperly assessed and the risks for CO poisoning are ignored. This is in spite of the fact that short-term operating of petrol-driven and diesel-powered machines within closed rooms (assembly shops, construction sites, car parks, etc.) may lead to symptoms related to intoxication.

Therefore it is extremely important that CO concentration is constantly being checked, particularly in indoor spaces, building sites, and factory halls, and by using the appropriate measuring devices.
