Vacker has its Dehumidifier Dubai division operating from its head office. The head office is located in Dubai, UAE. We have partnered with Trotec, Germany. They are one of the topmost manufacturers of dehumidifiers.
A dehumidifier, just like the name suggests, lowers humidity levels in the air. Humidity refers to the amount of water vapour in the air. When the humidity levels in a home or room are too high, it may lead to a host of problems like squeaky floorboards and wet stains on surfaces. High levels of humidity also encourage the growth of allergens for instance mould, fungus, and dust mite. These can cause respiratory problems. In general, a place that is too humid feels stuffy, hot and is usually accompanied by a musty smell. We have recently associated with Dantherm group consisting of Master brand, Calorex brand and Dantherm brand of dehumidifiers.
This is where dehumidifiers are important. They can be as simple as small packets of silica gel or as huge as a whole house. Dehumidifiers can be found on appliances like air conditioners and fridges. A portable dehumidifier is the most common type and is also easy to find and relatively expensive. These humidifiers run on the basic concept of condensation. Because water vapour contained in the air turns into a liquid when it is in contact with a cool surface, a dehumidifier pulls the air in the room using a fan and the takes it over cooled surface coils. The water vapour then condenses on the coils and then drips into collecting container. Other types of dehumidifiers use desiccants. These are substances that naturally absorb water.
Why are you buying a dehumidifier?
There are different types of dehumidifiers and each one is suited to a particular scenario or application. If you want a dehumidifier for the home, consider the amount of space you want to dehumidify when choosing a dehumidifier, it’s important to know the size you are buying. If you don’t pay attention to this factor, your dehumidifier may be unable to get rid of enough moisture from the air. In the end, the unit will waste a lot of energy working too hard.
For optimum results, you need to buy the right size of the unit based on the space (in terms of square footage) that you will need to be dried out. If the space you want to dehumidify is big, a larger size will come in handy so as to ensure efficiency. What are my humidity level and indoor temperature? Humidity levels and indoor temperature have a huge effect on dehumidifier performance.
If your intention is to dehumidify place of low temperature- basement, garage or crawlspace, then it’s important that you ensure the unit will continue to function effectively at low temperatures. If the space that you want to dehumidify has extremely high levels of humidity, you will need to go for a high-capacity dehumidifier that can tackle large moisture loads.
Additionally, you need to consider units for specific areas like basement dehumidifiers, crawlspace dehumidifiers and dehumidifiers for indoor spas and pools.
How are you going to get rid of the collected water? Since all dehumidifiers collect water sucked from the air, its appropriate that you consider how this water will be eliminated. A standard dehumidifier comes with a container that must be emptied on a regular basis. It will shut off automatically as soon as the container is filled. Also for most of the models, you can connect a drain hose. This makes it easy and does not require you to empty the container frequently.
How to select and buy the right Dehumidifier?
A dehumidifier is designed to keep the humidity levels of your room under check, making the air much more comfortable. With the proper selection of a dehumidifier, you can control the humidity. The following are the most important factors to consider when buying a dehumidifier:
Calculation of the required capacity of a dehumidifier
This might sound a bit technical especially if you are buying a dehumidifier for your home. However, please note that generally, you do not need to use the calculation if you are buying for a small home or office. We have guidelines given in our videos for this purpose. If you are buying for commercial applications, you can use our free dehumidifier capacity selection software.
Selection of the type of dehumidifiers by technology
There are two types of dehumidifiers by the technology used. The first one refrigerant or condensation type dehumidifier. The second one is the adsorbent or desiccant type dehumidifier. If your room temperature is above 10 Deg C for small applications, you can use condensation dehumidifier. For temperature below 10 deg C, you may have to use desiccant type dehumidifiers.
Selection of the dehumidifier by type of placement
There are different models by type of installation. These are portable, wall-mounted, duct mounted, roof-mounted etc. For all small applications, you may generally use portable condensation dehumidifiers. Please contact the nearest office of VackerGlobal for assistance in the selection of the right dehumidifier.
Majority of dehumidifier models are fitted with a drainage functionality. Gravity drainage involves connecting a regular garden hose to a drain outlet on the side or back of the unit. This allows the machine to drain the collected condensate (moisture that has been sucked from the air) using gravity. If you have a floor drain in your basement, you may run a regular garden hose from the side/back of the unit to the floor base of the basement for uninterrupted drainage only by using gravity.
A good humidifier is the one that can function at extremely low temperatures. Even if your climatic region is warm throughout the year, it’s advisable to choose a model with an automatic defrost feature. A unit that is energy star certified is the most ideal as its heat-exchange coils cannot frost over even when indoor temperatures drop below 60 to 65F. So go for a model that is energy star certified to 40 to 45F. Although this may come at a slightly higher cost, it will definitely spare you the cost of replacing a dehumidifier damaged as a result of iced coils.
Shop around and compare
Spending a few hours on comparison shopping can save you a lot of money in the end. Thorough research should be conducted on different dehumidifier brands with different features, from design and size to the draining method and capacity. All the different models are designed with the necessary features to help solve humidity problems. Ensure you familiarize yourself with the different types of models and features so as to make an informed purchase.
Smaller units are typically used around the home. So it is important to ensure that your unit can be moved from one room to another or from upstairs to downstairs and vice versa. The largest brands are the desiccant dehumidifiers and usually weigh about six kilos. These units are easy for able-bodied people to move so they do not feature castor wheels. Due to their compressor components, compressor dehumidifiers are much heavier compared to desiccant models and weigh between ten to sixteen kilos. Heavier machines should feature castor wheels to avoid back injuries. This makes it easier to move the machine. Another important point- always ensure your unit of choice has excellent carrying handles so you will not find yourself in an awkward position when trying to lift the unit.
A humidifier with automated controls for setting relative humidity levels and monitoring is the most ideal. Your home’s optimal relative humidity should be between forty and fifty per cent during summer and thirty to fifty per cent during winter. A dehumidifier with built-in hygrometer can measure and record relative humidity, automatically displaying the number. Adjustable humidistat enables the user to set a desired level of humidity and the machine automatically maintains it.
If you happen to choose a dehumidifier that doesn’t have these settings, you may be forced to purchase a hygrometer to hang next to the unit. These devices range from ten US dollars to sixty and will measure and record indoor humidity to enable you to know when to switch the dehumidifier on or off.
Requirements of dehumidifiers in Dubai
Humidity levels are high in Dubai, Abudhabi and other emirates of UAE. During summer, the outdoor humidity reaches up to 90%. The humidity is at its worst during the months from May to October. Hence, Vacker has been supplying quality dehumidifiers. These are supplied by us in Dubai and other Emirates.
This involves a lot of designs, engineering and site work. Hence, Dehumidifier Dubai division was separated in 2015. This helps us to provide better customer service in Dubai and other Emirates. This division takes care of all types of commercial, industrial and residential applications. These projects involve all types of small and big dehumidifiers.
When the outdoor humidity goes high, the indoor also is affected by proportionately. Levels above 65 to 70% cause adverse effects on human beings. Moisture even enters into the lungs through breathing.
Activities of Vacker, Dehumidifier Dubai division
After forming the Dehumidifier Dubai division, we have trained a separate design and installation team. Now we have more than 60 models of dehumidifiers and humidifiers. Hence, we have trained our personnel at the manufacturer’s factory in Germany.
The activities of this division are listed here.
- Design calculation for dehumidification capacity for commercial and residential applications. We will calculate and advise the amount of moisture to be removed. Removal of this much moisture will achieve the desired humidity. This capacity will be in litres per day. Accordingly, you can select a suitable dehumidifier from any manufacturer.
- Design of indoor pool dehumidification systems. This will also involve dehumidification capacity calculation. Also, ducting systems may have to be designed if required.
