Oil leak detection

Oil Leak Detector: A Must Have Tool for Oil Industry

Oil leaks can be expressly hazardous to the people around, the business or the local environment in the case left unchecked. It may cause a loss of countless lives or unlimited assets. At times, it may prove to be irreversible. High quantities of oil would be lost even a tiny pipe rupture, a connector failure or another kind of damage occurs due to any reason. You can just imagine the loss by the fact that a single tiny hydraulic leakage(read why Pneumatic systems are better than Hydraulic Equipment) as a dribble of oil per second equals to over 4 litres of oil in a single day. Multiply this volume by the present price of oil lost this way. Apart from its cost, other machines or parts may be damaged if the leakage is grave and is not repaired on time. A clearly understandable point is it’s not worth letting the issue going on.

Three common potential hazards arising from oil leakages are uncontrollable fires, explosions, critical environmental contamination. In addition, regulatory frameworks, too, are becoming stricter day-by-day. As a consequence, it’s crucial that you integrate an efficient detection system into your industry or facility including your storage tanks and distribution lines to safeguard these against any catastrophic damages.

How can we at Vacker help you avoid it?

Vacker’s oil leak detection systems understand your requirement here. They are capable to detect the presence of such substances even in microscopically small quantity where they should not be. Also, they will react then and there, alarming you to take appropriate steps. Our detection systems are deployable in your oil storage tanks, your lift pits, waste oil or other solvent material collection centers. Other usages are the detection of leaks from fuel pumps, leaks in generators, gas in pipe leaks, etc. We’ve designed them just to detect any type of leakages.

Our systems have an inbuilt intelligent sensor that shines a beam of LED light onto the collector. In case the beam is disrupted by the oil, it triggers an automatic alarm and switches on a set of relays inside the concerned panel. The relay, in return, switches the isolation valves that disconnect the supply. They also send warning messages as texts, set off the sounders or the signals, and connect to the building management system BMS.

Technical Features of Oil Leak Detection Systems

Vacker’s systems are constituted of a firmly sealed floating-body sensor (allows no air to enter or escape) and a reliable signal converter. It controls the supply of power and the conversion of the signal. Activation of alarms is also controlled. The sensor circuit employs a high-frequency plausible to the electrodes that protrude downward from the float into the water below the oil level. In case even a thin layer of oil forms on the water surface and the electrodes protrude into the oil instead of water that lowers the capacitance (the ability of the system restore an electrical charge) that is between the ground and the electrodes. This change is recognized, augmented and conveyed by the sensor. As a result, a signal passes through the sensor cord to the signal converter which then initiates the alarm.

Oil Leak Detection applications (Where you can install these?)

We deal in a broad range of detection systems to be fit into almost all types of facilities namely generator rooms, oil tank, oil drip tray, plant rooms, fuel oil pumps, oil sump tanks, etc. Here is a list of these applications:

  1. Oil detection in the elevator pits: Ensures safety keeping an eagle eye and takes care of all liability issues.
  2. Oil storage tanks and other locations: Prompt in detecting tank leaks.
  3. In Machining Stations: Detects leaks without taking time and instantly warns operators for the next actions.
  4. Oil detection sensors: are applied for total hydraulic equipment. Operational effectiveness is maximum.
  5. Leaks in hydraulic pipes: Very effective and useful in cases of O-ring failures, corrosion, collapsed seal connections that cause hydraulic systems leakages. Special sensor alarms inside the detectors can prevent the possible loss of fluids.
  6. Remote monitor for your site or facility: Efficiently detects oil leakages also while your operators are away from the facility.
